BLACK GIRLS CREATE INTERNATIONAL was created by friends Cina James and Manda Northern in November, 2017. The purpose of this organization is to empower creative women of color to start their own businesses, to build those crucial relationships necessary for success and support, and to help women build a sisterhood through which anything could be accomplished.

Urged on by the fact that there's currently no other organization in the Atlanta area that's dedicated to uplifting, connecting, and empowering creative, entrepreneurial women of color, Cina and Manda knew they had to do something to fill the gap. The idea for BGC started over brunch one Sunday and within a week, Cina and Manda had put something together. With both ladies being a serial entrepreneur, they knew rapid action was the key to bringing this idea to life.

After teaching for 5 years, Sharonda became a stay at home mom. While traveling from city to city with her child, cheering on her husband, she learned a lot about making sacrifices. As women we often put ourselves on the back burner without even thinking about it. Our dreams, wishes and ambitions sort of get tossed aside. In 2009, Sharonda realized that there was something missing. Now a mother of 2, she struggled with getting back to her pre-pregnancy weight and didn’t feel like her old self. She knew that she couldn’t be the only mom feeling like this. She learned the hard way that feeling good begins with starting from within. “Taking care of your whole body and mind is a must.” She decided that she wanted to be an inspiration to moms everywhere. You can have it all, you might just have to create what “all” means to you. She firmly believes there is a way to look good, feel good and do your thing too!
